Detailed Tour Itinerary

Day 01:

Arrive Mumbai

  • Arrive Mumbai by international flight

  • Meeting on arrival and transfer to hotel and proceed for check in (hotel check-in time is 1400hr)


Overnight in Mumbai

Day 02:

In Mumbai - Evening depart Mumbai for Mangalore

  • Morning : Early in the morning proceed to visit the fish market to see the fresh catch and also visit the vegetable and fruit market that opens early in the morning and the vendors bring the vegetables/fruit in truck loads.

  • Return to hotel with a stopover at the Gateway of India

  • Breakfast at the hotel

  • Rest of the morning, free for own activities

  • Check-out from the hotel at 1200hr (late check-out is subject to availability)

  • Afternoon: Later proceed to visit a local family of Bohra community (originally from Yemen and later migrated to India and Pakistan) to have an exclusive lunch with them. The uniqueness of this meal is 4 people share from one huge plate. It is a 5 course meal served while sitting on the floor. Later proceed to visit the street foods of Mumbai and to identify the locally available foods

  • Evening: Evening is free for own activities

  • By night, transfer to the railway station to board train to Udupi

  • Train Details: Mangalore Exp / 12133 (2200 / 1110 Hrs)

Day 03:

Arrive Udupi - Drive to Mangalore

  • Packed breakfast on board the Train

  • Morning: Arrive in Udupi @ 1110 Hrs (the train timings are valid from November till March. Train arrives at 1300hr in Udupi during October)

  • Afternoon: Meeting on arrival at railway station and proceed to visit the Krishna temple

  • Lunch is organised at Mitra Samaj (a legendary restaurant) with Masala Dosa and Goli Baji – 2 specialised cuisine of Udupi

  • Evening: Proceed to visit a coffee processing unit to have an interactive session with the experts on variety of Indian coffee including Monsoon Malabar coffee – a unique variety of Indian specialty coffee (Subject to prior permission)

  • Also, visit a cashew processing factory to see the various stages of cashew processing (Cashew Factory remain closed on Sunday’s & all public Holiday’s. Timings are between 10.00-13.00 hrs / 14.00-17.00 hrs)


Overnight in Mangalore

Day 04:

Mangalore - Calicut

  • Morning: In the early morning drive to the fish landing area. You will see how the market comes alive as the fish reaches the shore. The fish is sorted out as per the different shape and sizes.

  • Return to hotel for breakfast

  • Late Morning: Transfer to railway station to board train to Calicut

  • Train Details: Intercity Exp / 22609 (1145 / 1510 Hrs)

  • Afternoon: Arrive Calicut at 1510 hrs, you will be met by Mr. Rasheed who will take you through the local market. The Sweet Meat Street which is famous for its Mithai Theruvu -  a sweet that has made Calicut popular in Kerala

  • In the evening, you will be taken to the home of Mr. Rasheed to try your hands on Mopalah cuisine with your host – Mrs. Rasheed followed by dinner and interaction with the family

Day 05:

Calicut - Thrissur - Cochin

  • Morning: Breakfast at the hotel

  • Later, leave for Thrissur (120kms/ 03hr drive)

  • Afternoon: Meeting on arrival at Thrissur and drive to a Hindu family home. Have a pure vegetarian meal prepared and eaten in an age old traditional style

  • Evening: Post lunch, drive to Cochin (80 kms/ 2.5 hrs). En-route visit a shop to see the variety of chips prepared

  • Arrive in Cochin and check in the hotel

Day 06:

In Cochin

  • Morning: Embark on a sightseeing tour of Cochin visiting Dutch Palace (closed on Saturday's), Jewish synagogue (closed on Friday's and Saturday's), St. Thomas church & Chinese Fishing Net

  • Afternoon: After sightseeing visit a local home of Syrian Christian family for cooking demo followed by lunch

  • Evening: After lunch, amble around the town and visit the local markets

Overnight in Cochin

Day 07:

Cochin - Thekkady

  • Morning: Drive to Thekkady (160 Kms / 5 Hrs)

  • On arrival in Thekkady, check in at the hotel

  • In the evening, proceed to witness a Kalaripayattu (a local Marshal Art form) show

Day 08:

Thekkady - Cochin Depart

  • Morning, boat ride on lake Periyar.

  • Later, visit a spice plantation farm to identify the various spices in its natural and raw form

  • Check-out from the hotel at 1200hr (late check-out is subject to availability)

  • Later, transfer to Cochin airport to board onward flight back home
