It underwent significant renovations by the Dutch after 1663, which is why it is also known as the 'Dutch Palace'. The palace is renowned for its remarkable murals in the bedchambers and other rooms, depicting scenes from the Ramayana, Mahabharata, and Puranic legends associated with Shiva, Vishnu, Krishna, Kumara, and Durga. These murals are considered some of the most exquisite and extensive in India.

He was initially buried in St. Francis Church, although his remains were later returned to Portugal. Nevertheless, the exact location of his original burial is marked inside the church.

Gateway of India: As Mumbai’s most iconic monument, this is the starting point for most tourists exploring the city. Constructed as a triumphal arch to commemorate the visit of King George V and Queen Mary, it features four turrets and intricate latticework carved into yellow basalt stone.
